JSC Space Food Systems Laboratory (SFSL) has received funding approval to procure a new freeze dryer. Freeze dryer is used for making over 50 different freeze dried foods supporting multiple flight programs and ground analog studies. SFSL currently has 2 freeze dryers, one of which is approaching 20 years old and at risk of failure. A new freeze dryer will also improve SFSL throughput.
