Research abstract

In the Phase I effort, Vector ElectroMagnetics (Vector) developed and demonstrated a material system and a process to pattern single digit micron sized conductive traces and features over a scientifically relevant sized flat surface (~6x6 to 9x11).Techniques developed are applicable to both Polymer Matrix Composite (PMC) and Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) material systems and are compatible with high production rate and cost goals. In the Phase II effort, Vector is proposing to fully develop and demonstrate the complete material system and process to create single digit micron sized features and gaps on doubly curved PMC and CMC (also applicable to monolithic Ceramic) missile nose radome surfaces as well as cylindrical (eg. missile body antennas) and flat surfaces.Throughout the Phase II effort, Vector will be working with two DOD prime contractors so that upon the conclusion of the Phase II effort, this technology will be prepared to transition into a fielded munitions program via a Phase III effort.
