Research abstract

Under the electronic warfare (EW) buoy project, STR and its industry partners are developing a low-cost, expendable EW decoy buoy demonstration that performs electronic attack (EA) for protection of high-value submarine assets in both open-ocean and littoral environments. Through this Phase II effort, researchers will mature the concept developed in Phase I. We will leverage a low SWaP (size, weight, and power) EW implementation and existing, high-TRL canister to develop, test, and demonstrate an EW decoy buoy prototype. Through the effort, we will achieve at a minimum a technical readiness level (TRL) 5 (breadboard validation in relevant environment).
