Research abstract

The proposed effort will design, develop, and demonstrate the Common MBSE-Based Platform Architecture Software Solution (COMPASS)—a secure, scalable, and model-driven digital engineering environment that enables rapid integration, modernization, and deployment of Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) capabilities across submarine, surface, and maritime air platforms. COMPASS applies G2 Ops’ Gold Standard Methodology (GSM™) within a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) framework to model hardware, software, containers, orchestrators, network services, and mission functions in a unified, platform-agnostic architecture. COMPASS’ primary technical objective is to design, develop, and demonstrate a scalable Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) digital engineering framework to support capability integration, system modernization, and engineering rigor across AN/SQQ-89 baselines managed by the Integrated Warfare Systems (IWS-5) program office. It will include an embedded Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI/ML) Sandbox that will enable secure experimentation and deployment of intelligent services for system analysis, anomaly detection, and automation of engineering workflows. COMPASS will employ a federated modeling approach, leveraging TeamWork® Cloud as the centralized repository to ensure real-time model synchronization across platforms, engineering teams, and stakeholders. The effort will generate a synergistic workflow between systems engineering, MBSE modeling efforts and software design activities. Common architecture modeling and design formulation will establish the foundation necessary for prototype development, integration, and demonstration.
