Research abstract

The 360° Extended Range AI Imaging System (360-XRAIS) produces high-resolution, long-range LWIR imagery over 360° from a single, compact, optical assembly while also providing a simultaneous wide field-of-view (FOV). The detailed imagery feeds into its edge AI engine for reliable AI target detection (equivalent to Johnson Criteria recognition) up to 2km away. Its persistent 360° imagery enables accurate target tracking and counting. This functionality is equivalent to stitching 45 long-range cameras together and then attempting to run real-time AI inference. While the Army, and particularly PEO GCS, are fielding 360° situational awareness (360SA) systems, these are short-range for driving and local SA up to 200m whereas the 360-XRAIS addresses the need to passively and autonomously detect and track threats much farther afield.
