Research abstract

Deep Springs Technology (DST) proposes a novel solid state cooking system to replace the legacy deep fat fryer currently aboard the Ohio Class Submarines. The proposed solid state system is consistent with requirements of the Navy and has significant advantages over other cooking technologies. Deployment of the proposed system will eliminate fire hazards associated with cooking oil; eliminate the need for aqueous potassium carbonate safety system to put out grease fires; reduce food preparation costs; reduce health risks associated with fried foods; and save space that would otherwise be devoted to carrying oil.
