Research abstract

The objective of this SBIR program is to produce a rapid runway repair patch that can produce a robust top layer over a suitable sublayer in 60 minutes from start of mixing. The material can support the pressures from an F15 and exhibits good creep properties. The purpose of the Phase II effort is to more rigorously characterize the pavement patch solution, investigate additives for enhanced durability, explore cost saving possibilities, and explore application and EH&S considerations. The most important goal of this effort is to show that the pavement patch can withstand 5,000x passes with an F-15 fighter aircraft simulating load cart without deflecting more than 0.75 inches initially and 1.5 inches in total.
