Fluidics Card For Portable Agricultural Diagnostic Panel

Diagenetix, Inc. has developed a handheld, portable, and low-cost diagnostic platform. Currently, it is being used by academic researchers, federal agencies, and producers of speciality crops as well as row crops. It is based upon our patent pending molecular probe and loop-mediated isothermal amplification, from which we have licensed from Eiken Chemical Co. Ltd. It is able to perform eight reactions at once. The reactions are hosted in the handheld and results are viewed through our Android based software application.In Phase I, Diagenetix will improve upon this platform, to increase ease of use for producers and to expand the number of reactions capable of being processed at once to sixty-four. These improvements will be achieved by developing a microarray based test format that is pre-populated with lyophilized reagents and image-based detection. The new platform will greatly expand producer's ability to test for a "panel" of diseases and volume of tests run while minimizing sample and reagent handling.The prototype platform will then be tested by our producer partner,a largepotato producer and processor in the Northwest.
