Research abstract

Course of action analysis and recommendation is an iterative process that must be constantly reassessed within the context of the operational environment and meeting Commanders objectives. COA needs to be dynamically adjusted as new data becomes available during mission execution that indicates how well the COA is meeting objectives. To assist Navy planners with COA decision making, Securboration is developing the Course Of Action Recommendation Services (COARS) that will ingest and process unstructured reports such as Atmospherics, and assess their impact on the current COA, and recommend changes to align the COA with Commanders objectives. Atmospherics are daily reports that provide continuous feedback on the local populaces perception and sentiment regarding security, governance, cultural, religious, economic, and development issues. COARS leverages content analysis capability to processes these unstructured reports and uses the results as inputs to a Bayesian-based computational model that determines the impact with respect to the ongoing COA. The computational model also determines COA recommendations to further align the state of the operational environment with the Commanders objectives.
