Research abstract

. The SDC team proposes to begin the Phase II program with risk reduction design, analysis, manufacturing, and testing of critical components followed by designing for integration into the CH-53K cargo handling system and with the TBFDS, and designing and analyzing the Composite Pallet Rapid Restraint (CPR2) system to meet the prescribed structural load cases. Following the successful completion of the risk reduction steps and overall CPR2 design, SDC will host a Preliminary Design Review to go over the design and plans for component manufacturing and validation tests. The component manufacturing and testing results will be reviewed at a Manufacturing Readiness Review that will serve as a gate to begin full-scale prototype manufacturing. SDC proposes for the Phase II Base program to culminate with the manufacture of full-scale prototype hardware and testing for operation with the cargo handling system. For the Option program, SDC proposes to focus on outfitting a full-scale prototype for structural testing, designing a structural test plan, and executing the structural tests. The test results would then be presented at a Critical Design Review. Upon a successful completion of the Phase II Base and Option programs, the CPR2 will be readied for production and qualification testing.
