Research abstract

This Phase II effort aims to prototype and test a low-power, on-gimbal, bistatic beam director, both in the lab and using a well-instrumented outdoor test range. Building on a successful Phase I effort that explored the technical challenges critical to developing this system, the principal objective of this Phase II effort is to provide a field evaluation of the Phase I concept for on-gimbal bistatic beam director technology where the outgoing beam optical path is separated from the optical paths used for target imaging, tracking, and sensing of target-return light.
