Research abstract

SK realistic estimated timeline of 18 months maximum, hopefully sooner, will allow for design, engineer and testing modifications to be addressed. SK learned from Phase II that even the simple modifications can result in hours of engineering and design work. The successful completion of the DOTWASH system was designed and developed. The overall components were tested with good operating capabilities. Knowing now, what SK didn't know prior to Phase II testing, the working area on the deck space of the trailer, is not sufficient to safely operate the working system. Components are too close together to adequately perform routine maintenance or repair. The water tanks are too tall preventing easy site availability to the operator. The trailer length is too small and does not have running lights on the sides of the trailer. These running light are desperately needed when traveling on roads for safety issues and overall towing visibility. Phase II scientific testing indicated the need to design and develop side curtains to help contain and restrict any potential off target fog/mist movement during the final rinse applications. During this testing, a high percentage of the fog/mist electro statically adhered to the metal undercarriage of the trucks/vehicles, some of the fog/mist evaporated and there is potential for a small portion to move off target if the wind is blowing. Wind MPH will also be addressed in the working manual of the DOTWASH system for the end user. This potential issues must be addressed for end user and potential customer satisfaction it was agreed side curtains containing same poly fabric as reclaim mat, approximately two feet high and no more than four feet long should provide adequate prevention coverage. Side curtains will provide the visible assurance for the end user. Successful modifications through the Phase IIB project will support the final development of the DOTWASH creating the only piece of equipment providing dual purpose use, invasive species removal and salt neutralizing component, easy towing, easy operational, easy system clean out easy set up and tear down, time efficiency, drivers can utilize remote control to operate without leaving truck, limited processing time and at least 97% effective in preventing the spread of invasive species. These capabilities will be important to potential customers.
