Research abstract

Since its invention by Bell Lab’s researchers over a decade ago, Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output (MIMO) based wireless communications has been touted as the next revolution in wireless data communications. By taking advantage of multipath propagations, MIMO can provide orders of magnitude improved performance in terms of range, power consumption, and data throughput in NLOS multipath rich environments. Application of MIMO to JTRS based waveforms could provide significant performance enhancements. Silvus will modify its MIMO radios to operate in the JTRS frequency and quantify the benefits after a series of in depth field trials.
