Research abstract

The 1D2 to 3F4 (blue) emission in a thulium doped lutetium aluminum garnet (Tm:LuAG) has been reported to be approximately three times broader (~30 nm) than this transition in other hosts. This project will investigate this unusually broad emission and assess the potential of this material for a wavelength agile laser material tunable throughout the 20,300 to 21,800 inverse cm range.
