Research abstract

The objective of this proposal is to develop the RAY-500 System™: a cost effective, state-of-the-art, Autonomous Shipboard Cleaning System (ASCS) for use onboard current and future US Navy ships. The RAY-500 System™ will be a combination of modified commercial-off-the-shelf (modified COTS) robotic systems and newly developed components to meet the specific needs of a maritime operating environment. The System will dramatically increase the efficiency of current cleaning by releasing crew members’ time for other tasks that is currently being used for cleaning on a daily basis.
