Research abstract
This Phase II proposal is to develop and integrate a UHF SATCOM frequency reuse planning suite of tools, which will provide the capability to help maximize the capacity of UHF SATCOM resources for a given spectrum for the Navy’s operation. Phase II study further develops the suite of tools based on the concept, methodologies, and prototype demonstrated in the Phase I study. The reuse planning methodologies and analysis will be further refined from those of Phase I so that the tool can represent Navy’s practical operations parameters, for example, in terms of the number of frequency channels, the number of terminals, satellite transponder & terminal characteristics, operational area, and operational period for each mission. XPRT will ensure that the suite of tools provides the reuse planning results with minimal user intervention by automating the iterative analysis procedures. This will be accomplished as an integrated software package, which will consist of all of the analysis and planning procedures as well as interfaces with external systems including JMINI and STK. The prototype suite of tools software will be distributed to Navy’s operations for evaluation, feedback, and further refinement of the tool.
