Research abstract

The United States Navy has operational requirements for connectivity to all tactical participants in warfighting operations. Navy SBIR N07-111 Phase I demonstrated the use of the CoCo protocol for use in Tactical Edge Network (TEN) – MANET networks with highly mobile participants, rapidly changing topologies, and unreliable transports. Phase II of this effort will demonstrate the use of this protocol to deliver access to already-fielded IP-based Naval C4I systems – such as ISNS, ADNS, and CENTRIX – for participants in these TEN-M networks. Phase II of this SBIR will take the laboratory results of Phase I and retest them in a fully replicated simulation of the EMIO end to end architecture in SPAWAR testbed facilities. The effort will deliver a tested system for real-time information sharing with the farthest edge of the battlespace. The system will be integrated into the existing PMW-160 Expanded Maritime Intercept Operations (EMIO) Wireless Backhaul architecture and documented for rapid integration for Navy acquisitions.
