Research abstract

The Mobius team, comprising Mobius Consulting, LLC (Mobius), the University of North Dakota (UND), and Parsons Government Services (Parsons), is well-equipped to support the Phase I STTR effort. Our primary focus is on assisting the SDA in improving the operations of their Tranche 1 and 2 Operations (OC) in Grand Forks, North Dakota and to enhance security and resilience of the PWSA satellite systems against emerging threats. This team brings extensive experience in space systems, simulation and modeling, collaborative research, threat mitigation, satellite operation centers, cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) computing, training, and curriculum development. The overarching goal through Phase III of the STTR is to create an operations center environment.  This environment will serve as a platform to educate operators and space systems engineers about satellite operations. Additionally, it will provide a space for professors and students to engage in five key activities: research and development, technological development, evaluation and validation, knowledge transfer and training, and documentation and reporting. In collaboration with the SDA, the Mobius team will develop methods and capabilities to facilitate knowledge transfer, promoting the use of advanced technology in the PWSA satellite systems. Phase I will involve researching and assessing current SDA PWSA programs planned for Grand Forks Air Force Base, evaluating both government and commercial capabilities, and identifying areas for research, demonstration, and knowledge transfer that can be addressed through a satellite collaborative operations and research environment (SCORE). The team will develop research topics and curricula for knowledge transfer, leveraging our combined expertise to create conceptual frameworks and assess the feasibility of proposed research topics.  We will also devise a plan to establish a UND-SDA SCORE to support the SDA Grand Forks Operations Center, including the necessary curriculum and research components.  Finally, the team will develop and demonstrate example curriculum materials, research topics, experiments, and a notional UND-SDA SCORE.
