Research abstract

In this Phase II effort, JRM will develop and incorporate dramatic HDR improvements to its suite of real-time sensor libraries to facilitate high-fidelity sensor training and simulation. These libraries are IG-independent, OS-independent and Scene-Graph independent, so the new HDR sensor simulation capabilities they will afford can be readily integrated into ANY modeling or simulation application or program. The specific improvements will include: 1. Full 16 bit float GPU SigSimRT sensor signature and atmospheric propagation modeling support for HDR at-aperture 2D sensor radiance image synthesis, 2. Full 16 bit float engineering level HDR SenSimRT sensor effects image processing in the GPU, 3. 30-200 Hz 16-bit integer digital interface support, for DVI and Display Port-compatible HDR displays and projectors, 4. New, optimized HDR sensor texture formats and supporting material classification algorithms and tools, 5. HDR special effects APIs for plumes, smokes, fires, obscurants and countermeasures, and 6. Phase II prototype HDR Sensor IG offerings with HDR display technology.
