Research abstract

The Army, the DoD and Industry, have minimal capability for functional testing of its prime weapon systems at all phases of maintenance. Furthermore, the Services are not facilitated with the ability to perform Coherent Parallel Test and provide Diagnostic Imaging utilizing high input/output (I/O) density test instruments and systems. Current test systems have been designed to perform sequential test which drive throughput limitations and affect the time spent testing and repairing Units Under Test (UUTs).These limitations are driving the cost of maintaining Army primary weapon systems and diminishing their availability. Additionally, these limitations are proving to be critical impediments in maintaining UUT performance and ultimately readiness. New technologies in the Software, Test, Radar and Medical Industries can facilitate the development of Coherent Parallel Test and Diagnostic Imaging (CPTDI) software tools that will enable the test systems of today and tomorrow to advance the Armys (and DoD) repair capability in Intermediate and Depot repair facilities, as well as and Industrys production and rework facilities. CPTDI will mitigate the shortfalls of todays systems sequential approach to testing and allow for functional testing and diagnostics of low to high density I/O Shop Repairable Units and Line Replaceable Units.
