Research abstract

The Phase II SBIR N06-185 seeks to develop a Persistent Deployable Communications Network to extend line-of-sight (LOS) communications range for the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS). This proposal outlines plans for designing, building, and demonstrating a Tethered Communications Relay (TCR) that will operate from an Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) to allow a JTRS compatible repeater to be lifted to an altitude of 1000-4000 ft.
