Research abstract

We propose to leverage our teams critical expertise in weather data acquisition for weather effects modeling and innovative multidimensional database implementation to implement our Phase I design for a feasible proof-of-concept prototype that will demonstrate a revolutionary concept to improve incorporating weather effects within the air battle management process. Our Prototype will employ state-of-the-art Dwarf technology to deliver actual weather data to the Target Acquisition Weapons Software (TAWS) application, to generate real-world weather effects and efficacy metrics. Dwarf datacubes are orders of magnitude smaller than tradition datacubes even when they calculate and store every possible grouping aggregation while maintaining 100% precision (lossless).  The TAWS results based on the weather data supplied by our Prototype will also accommodate the display of the weather effects using current mission planning system applications to ensure compatibility with the current air battle management process. The efficacy metrics will demonstrate the revolutionary speed, storage, and efficiency improvements due to the application of Dwarf technology to the required weather data, while FalconView will display the actual weather effects as tactical decision aid overlays. Our team consists of SSCI as the prime contractor and Dr. Nick Roussopoulos of Advanced Communication Technology Inc. as the subcontractor. BENEFIT: The development of the proof-of-concept demonstration will serve as the foundation for Phase III commercialization in any areas that require decision making based on the analysis of highly dynamic multidimensional data. These include not only military applications, such as air battle planning by mitigating adverse impact of the weather (air task order production, efficient time-phased deployment), but also commercial applications, such as weather impact mitigation to supply chain management and retail category management.
