Research abstract
The purpose of this project is to design and develop a predictive modeling and simulation tool for rapid thermal analysis in order to evaluate and optimize the performance of propulsion cooling systems in conventional and hybrid military ground vehicles. This has become critical because of the increasing thermal problems that field vehicles are experiencing from the increased weight due to added armor. The dramatic increases in the performance of computers in recent years have made rapid analyses much more feasible. Also with the increased power the compromises that were necessary in legacy software packages in order to get them to run in a reasonable timeframe are no longer needed. TES’ experience in developing software for closely related applications has afforded us the insight and experience necessary to accomplish this task. Thus we would propose that we build on our existing software package, partly developed for TACOM under another sbir, and modify the graphical user interface and solution protocols to arrive at an excellent software package in a very timely and cost effective manner.
