Research abstract

Innalabs has developed a unique solid state Coriolis vibratory gyroscope, CVG, which shows great promise toward use within gyrocompass systems. Within the scope of its proposed work Innalabs proposes to investigate the use of its CVG technology within a gyrocompass system that will meet the requirements as listed within the topic. The research will include both Innalabs current metallic resonator technology as well as its ongoing quartz resonator technology. The quartz resonator technology provides great promise toward meeting the goal of a small sized, low-cost, gyrocompass system. Within a proposed Phase I Option, Innalabs proposes to build a prototype gyroscope including design changes specific to the needs of the gyrocompass system and to use this prototype as a basis to prove out the initial research carried out in Phase I. Innalabs has vast experience in inertial sensor systems including the development of the current weapon orientation measurement system, WOM, used for current OneTESS test and evaluation. Its experience in the ongoing research for the OneTESS WOM, as well as its specific expertise in both gyroscope and accelerometer technologies, make it uniquely qualified to research alternative solutions.
