Research abstract

Spatially distributed features on a radar range-azimuth display may indicate the presence of an object of interest. The proposed work involves robust detection of such features, including reliable discrimination from environmental features that occur in the absence of the object. In addition to information about the presence or absence of an object, the features may contain information about the object’s position and motion. The parameters associated with this additional information are to be identified and estimated, and their utility is to be evaluated.
