Research abstract

The continued advance of flat panel display technology in the commercial and consumer display industry offers the opportunity to provide wide field of view high resolution displays to the flight simulation community with significantly higher performance and lower cost than previously available. These flat panel displays offer exceptional brightness and contrast and steadily increasing resolution and size. Large flat panel displays with Quad HDTV resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels) are becoming commercially available. This Quad HDTV format will provide eye-limiting resolution performance at an afforable cost. Advanced Simulation Displays has been working on multiple projects that optically combine multiple flat panel displays to provide a continuous and seamless image using commercially available flat panel displays. This program will combine the experience of Advanced Simulation Displays optical combiner technology with expanded field of view and higher resolution than previously availanle.
