Research abstract
This proposal describes a software infrastructure called CompX that can usefully generate large numbers of independent threads for a wide range of applications, providing parallel processing capabilities without burdening the application developers with threading issues. CompX would provide an infrastructure layer between applications and the threading facilities of the operating system, and present an interface to application developers that would not require any knowledge of threading issues.
