Research abstract

Nova Sensors proposes to develop and demonstrate an advanced multi-mode 2K x 2K format dual band (MWIR/LWIR) focal plane array (FPA). This dual band imaging sensor will provide wide area surveillance at 30 Hz frame rate in full resolution mode to over 1 kHz frame rate in a user configurable data compression mode. This demonstrated on-FPA data compression method permits high spatial sampling of one or more simultaneous regions of interest while providing lower spatial resolution sampling of the rest of the field of view. Unlike standard windowing FPAs, while in this mode situational awareness is preserved for the entire field of view.
