Research abstract

As Joint Strike Fighter nears production and the existing aging aerospace fleet faces challenges in spares procurement, state of the art manufacturing technology must be developed to satisfy cost, performance and delivery requirements. Royal Plastic Mfg. has been researching Laser Sintering (LS) of high temperature engineering thermoplastics as a potential solution to these issues. Utilization of this emerging manufacturing technology holds great promise in reducing cost, weight and delivery lead time for a select group of aerospace part families.
