Research abstract

Corvid Technologies, with our partners MILTEC Corp. and Lockheed Martin, is pleased to offer the following proposal in response to solicitation MDA-07-019, Improvements to the BMDS Hit-to-Kill Predictive Toolset. In Phase I we will identify the state-of-the art in modeling two critical lethality code development areas: 1) Fragment Flood Loading and 2) High Explosive non-shock to detonation transitions (SDT). Success of the BMDS program is based on kinetic energy intercepts of a variety of target/payload combinations. These payloads include nuclear, explosive, and chem-bio fills. The phenomenology of an intercept must be well understood to make a predictive assessment of the effectiveness of the BMDS element. Doing so, through computer simulation, is a key to a successful and affordable BMDS.
