Research abstract

When a distributed aperture radar is used to suppress jammers in conventional interferometric fashion, the separation of the individual antennas determines the width of the suppressed angular sector. This will be very much narrower than the mainbeam for a monostatic radar, but at the cost of ambiguous sectors where targets may also be suppressed. However, the distributed array presents an opportunity to suppress mainlobe jammers in another fashion that promises to be able to detect threats near the jammer and to have much less of an ambiguity problem. This jammer suppression technique, which MARK Resources proposes to develop, is entirely compatible with conventional multistatic operation, as well as with multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) operation, including other types of processing for jammer suppression.
