Research abstract
The focus of this PHASE II proposal is utilization of the DMI proprietary UID and Strain Measurement Technology in a staged approach as part of the SHUMS IMPLEMENTATION CONCEPT. DMI’s technology can achieve serialization, provide tracking, and evaluate the condition of parts and systems (residual strain/fatigue, crack initiation, crack growth and strain). Ultimately, the passive DMI gage used to serialize and evaluate the condition of parts and systems would be evolved into an active DMI gage system termed “DART” (directly applied, read and transmit). DART refers to a class of surface-level serialization plus health monitoring technology by DMI that can ‘store’ structural conditions in a medium for simplified, non-line-of-sight, on-demand readings.
