Research abstract

Impact Technologies, LLC, in collaboration with the Georgia Institute of Technology, is proposing to develop, test, and evaluate a prototype Condition-Based Maintenance system for critical machining operations at Warner Robins Air Logistics Center. The proposed effort is intended for proof-of-concept purposes and entails innovative sensing, data-processing, and fault diagnosis and failure prognosis technologies that are aimed to reduce substantially maintenance costs, increase equipment uptime, and prolong the life and availability of critical machine components. These goals will be achieved by avoiding preventive or corrective maintenance and maintaining equipment only when needed. A novel hardware/software platform called CBMi™ developed by Impact Technologies and employed successfully over the past years in actual utility operations will be customized to meet the challenges of the selected application domain. This system will be installed for demonstration purposes, but is not a deliverable on this contract. Impact Technologies and Georgia Tech are recognized leaders in the development and implementation of CBM technologies. Their work has been sponsored by government and industry over the past years.
