Research abstract

America’s limited number of electronic attack assets will soon be enhanced with a new generation of platforms and sensors creating new airborne EA systems. This creates an opportunity to explore new ways to employ EA assets not only singly but also as networks of weapons. It is more cost effective to analyze and optimize airborne electronic attack methods in simulations than in combat. By marrying a dynamic mission planning and execution tool (i.e., OPUS) with EA models and resource optimization schemes, we will create an EA Planning Tool that can also demonstrate a variety of concepts and assess the effectiveness of different potential EA assets. OR Concepts Applied (ORCA) has put together a team of experts to build tools for modeling and managing EA effects. Not only will tools be available in a stand alone PC-based simulation environment, we will also integrate the technology into the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Virtual Combat Laboratory’s software environment.
