Research abstract
Electronic Textile, Inc (ET) is proposing to accomplish two key objectives in this proposed effort. One, to integrate three different ingredients for a powerful synergetic long term protection from vectors by using: 1) Encapsulated DEET – improving the longevity of the insecticide by addressing DEET’S volatility. 2) Encapsulated Permethrin – a washable, Stable Neuro-Toxin 3) Cyclodextrin - Acting as Reservoir to Increase the quantity of material held active on the fabric surface. DEET, Permethrin are EPA approved chemicals. Second Objective, ET will design, develop an optimized opening lightweight mesh liner fabric, treated with chemical combination mentioned above. ET proposed liner material will retrofit into existing camouflage systems providing significant cost benefits. ET Liner System will utilize DEET’s Halo Effect to achieve the desired optimization of weight and opening of the liner mesh fabric without compromising and affecting the camouflage functionality or mosquito vector protection. ET will conduct testing to evaluate the durability, stability and efficacy against arthropods of this system. ET has gathered an Industry leading professional team members (Marmot, Malden, Black Diamond) to assure successful development and commercialization effort.
