Research abstract

It is the intent of Hittite through this proposal to offer a systematic approach to the review, design definition, and testing of suitable printed wiring board (PWB) manufacturing methods that would result in integrated circuits (ICs) embedded within the PWB. The effort is specifically directed towards the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) radio modules with the objective of reducing the Size, Weight, Power, and Cost (SWaP-C) of the fielded units. Activities included in this effort are an analysis of the selected manufacturing approaches with respect to the design requirements, design and fabrication of a reliability test vehicle, and a reliability demonstration using accelerated stress testing to replicate the JTRS environments and life cycle profile.
