Research abstract
Currently there is no system which can automatically manage data transferred to and from a submarine via a disadvantaged link. Data transfer requirements on multiple security enclaves, is increasingly important to submarine users. A process whereby users can effectively manage & prioritize data requirements on multiple security enclaves is needed. As a result of increased data requirements, with no increase in throughput planned, existing bandwidth is stressed forcing users to investigate ways to increase efficiency of current bandwidth. Its imperative a method be developed which assists users in optimizing limited bandwidth. Tele-Consultants, Inc. will define a system that incorporates an automated, but user controlled system for controlling data to / from the afloat networks, introducing a tool capable of supporting multi security levels and easily integrated into currently installed Program of Record architectures. The research will define a system that uses a combination of COTS software coupled with custom software. The solution defined will be web based, enhancing features available in shipboard/shore router and data encryption equipment. The system will assimilate into submarine and shore architectures. Research will define how afloat users can configure, monitor, manage, prioritize, and compress data.
