Research abstract

The code developed in this Phase II SBIR program would remove computational barriers to the application of full-wave computational electromagnetics to the design and analysis of large antenna arrays mounted on arbitrary platforms. Starting with a state-of-the-art computational electromagnetics (CEM) code, the NanoSonic team will continue to implement a disruptive direct-solve CEM method, LOGOS, in order to create a design and analysis code with full-wave capabilities essential to the efficient, design of electronically steered arrays integrated into an arbitrary platform. Thus far with only a portion of the solution advantages provided by LOGOS, we have demonstrated greater stability and speed (1000X) compared with a current state-of-the-art code. NanoSonic will work with the USAF and defense prime contractor(s) to continue to implement this framework for full-wave antenna analysis and design. The completion of the Phase II effort will produce a prototype code whose use will significantly reduce the design cycle and move designs into deployment in a much timelier manner with greater functionality and less expensive price-tag. In this Phase II, the NanoSonic team will produce a CEM library module with capabilities for design and analysis that are not available in any of the most advanced CEM codes.
