Research abstract

We propose to design and evaluate the performance of a passive layered sensor network capable of detecting, identifying, geolocating and determining intent for RF emitters capable of detonating an explosive device in an area of interest. The sensor network operation will include dynamic node functionality and cross layer communications. The design will be based on a currently deployed sensor network accomplishing similar objectives for commercial wireless signals. Techniques beyond standard electronic surveillance methods will be included to minimize the sensor count and maximize the yield from the network.
