Research abstract

The military is transitioning to a fast reaction mobile strike force with increasing reliance on unmanned, autonomous systems. As part of this, IP networks at various sites are now handling an increasing number of voice calls using Voice over IP (VoIP) in different security domains. Further, there is a need to capture and archive the voice collaboration data for subsequent analysis. This key capability provides added security for auditing purposes. Emerging XML technologies that provide enhancements to voice collaboration may be applied toward this problem space. Trident System proposes to leverage industry technologies and innovations to develop a Secure Inter-Domain VoIP Architecture (SIDVA) that will provide the architectural foundation to support the intra- and inter-domain secure VoIP requirements. Trident Systems will also conduct continuous, in-depth examinations of emerging technologies that may be utilized to implement the required capabilities. The SIDVA system will make use of standards as put forth by W3C Voice Browser Working Group, IETF and ITU-T Internet telephony standard bodies. Adhering to these standards also ensures that the proposed solution is interoperable with existing VoIP applications. Trident Systems will insure that the proposed architecture is a high assurance solution that can be certified for deployment in DoD environments.
