Research abstract

The research effort described in this proposal is designed to lay the foundation for the development of a massive distributed network storage system. The specific purpose of the proposed work is to determine which features and functionalities in a Peer-to-Peer based architecture are most likely to provide a satisfactory solution to the distributed storage problem. In the course of the analysis we propose to develop a baseline conceptual model of the software architecture and use this as a blueprint for the development of an integrated set of functional models for the system. Using the results of this research, along with the functional prototype models, it should be possible to build optimal distributed storage software tailored for use in large network environments.
