Research abstract

Triton Systems Inc proposes to develop new life raft fabric materials which is composed of nanoparticle filled outer coating layers laminated to a core fabric. The nanoparticle filled coating layers will provide improved abrasion and puncture resistance while providing exceptional gas barrier properties, while the strength will be provided by the nylon fabric. This technology, together with innovative seaming techniques is expected to yield a lighter weight life raft with improved durability and operational characteristics in hot/dry environments.
