Research abstract
Echo Technical proposes to develop an innovative Littoral Electric Arc Discharge Environmental Reporter (LEADER) to support NAVY ASW tactical mission requirements associated with subsurface battlespace environmental characterization. The solution proposed is based on the experience that Echo Technical has with the development and validation of acoustic propagation algorithms in broad ocean areas and with miniaturized sparker acoustic sources recently developed. Key features of the solution include the use of data simulation from representative scenarios, a critical evaluation of the ability of each algorithm to invert the data and recover the original environmental specification, and a subjective evaluation of the overlapping capabilities of algorithms that may be applied in a layered integrated approach. The fidelity of data sets generated will be enhanced by the detailed specification of physical and functional characteristics of one or more sparker implementations, any of which can be demonstrated to be realizable in near term application, based on previously developed Echo Technical fieldable prototypes.
