Research abstract

The Improved Web-Based Mapping (IWM) System will significantly improve on current AJAX-based techniques for browser-based web mapping. Using the latest emerging technologies in the web development field, GIRD Systems will develop a rich user interface that operates without requiring software or special plug-ins to be installed, reducing the burden of system and security maintenance. An innovative approach described herein will allow for new features to be included that were previously unavailable to browser-based mapping users. The IWM system will also be tightly integrated with legacy technology and compatible with C/JMTK specifications and tools such as JointWebCOP.
