Research abstract

This Phase I SBIR ARMY project proposes the development of advanced green body 4” domelets (4” dia. sample with a 7” radius) fabrication through the combination of freeze casting (FC) technology with unique nanopowder technology developed by MER for aluminum oxynitride (AlON) and/or magnesium aluminate spinel (MgAl2O4) ceramics. The novel technology presents several advantages over conventional cold isostatic pressing resulting in lower cost.
