Research abstract

The Goal of this Phase I effort will be to determine the feasibility of an integrated tire and tire / soil interface monitoring system based on an inexpensive, high performance piezoelectric wheel mounted sensor to improve vehicle effectiveness in conjunction with CTIS and vehicle stability control/traction control/ABS systems. In addition, it will be determined if this advanced tire monitoring system can be used for tire prognostics to predict eminent tire failure, required replacement or limit tire operating conditions such as vehicle speed or tire pressure.
