Research abstract

Maxion Technologies, in collaboration with a research team at The State University of New York at Stony Brook, will adapt its interband cascade (IC) laser technology to create IR light-emitting-diode (LED) arrays of size 128 x 128 that emit in the 3-5-micron spectral region and meet necessary array performance requirements for IR scene projection. IC-based arrays of LEDs will provide point and extended source images with high-effective temperatures (up to 3000 K) and with sub-microsecond response times. The newly developed arrays will enable IR scene simulations with high dynamic range, significantly improving MDA’s ability to fully test and validate candidate infrared sensors and seekers.
