Research abstract

To increase RFID security while meeting performance, cost, and lifetime requirements, Williams-Pyro, Inc. is developing the AccuTagTM Multi-Encrypted Active RFID System (Accu-MEARS). Accu-MEARS will provide a software encryption solution to integrate with the Army’s RF-ITV network and RFID hardware. RFID hardware that is currently designed to integrate with the RF-ITV network will not be rendered obsolete by Accu-MEARS. Accu-MEARS will encrypt data that is written to an RFID tag through either an interrogator or a docking station and read by the interrogator. Further, Accu-MEARS will interface with the Oracle database that resides within the RF-ITV network to store RFID data. The Accu-MEARS interfaces will be modular blocks that may be bypassed or altered via a graphical user interface (GUI) or possibly plug-and-play support. Designing the software architecture in this way will allow it to adopt to various encryption applications.
