Research abstract

TBDTactical Language Training, LLC proposes to develop new technologies for authoring several types of interactive dialogs tools and to provide learners wth assessment and feedback of their pronuciation skills. These capabilities will be integrated and leverage the existing technologies of our Tactical Language Training System (TLTS), an interactive speech-enabled language and culture training system. TLTS is already in used within the US military, helping military personnel to learn Iraqi Arabic and Pashto. Trainees acquire linguistic and cultural knowledge oriented toward requirements of particular missions. They complete interactive lessons and exercises oriented toward specific mission skills, and then apply their skills in simulated missions where they much communicate with indigenous characters and develop their trust.
