Research abstract

Triton Systems, Inc. proposes to further develop an innovative low air resistance filter and duct liner technology, which has the ability to electrokinetically produce sanitizing gases and to neutralize chemical and biological warfare agents. The Phase I studies showed that these devices can generate biocidal gas electrokinetically at sufficiently high concentrations. In addition, the devices will be further developed to have embedded capture and additional decontamination functionalities and hence will be effective even in the absence of the electrokinetic process. The synergistic effect of the different countermeasures will significantly enhance the neutralization capability. The technology uses low cost and wide area fabrication techniques and enables an extended active surface area within building HVAC systems for increased decontamination efficiency. The method has been demonstrated to be compatible with HVAC filters, which have little or no hindrance to airflow.
